Rolling Meadows Ladies Golf Association (RMLGA)
Rules and Regulations

First and foremost, the current rules of the USGA will be the guiding light for your golf play. Special course rules and conditions will be applied wherever applicable. The course owners determine the greens fee and cart prices.

1. In order for any nine-hole or eighteen-hole round to be official, you must play with at least one other member of the RMLGA. You will be given a roster (usually available end of May) of league members. Please do not list guests on scorecards turned in for tournament play.

2. All weekly nine-hole and eighteen-hole tournaments must be played between course opening on Thursdays and course closing on Sundays. All eighteen-hole tourneys must be completed on the same day.

3. Tournaments that are run weekly (see enclosed listing of the 2007tournament schedule), have an additional $5 tournament fee in addition to greens fee. This additional $5 tournament fee is used for weekly prizes and winners will receive Pro Shop prize credits (CHITS). These CHITS are honored thru the end of November for each season in which they are won. You must sign up and pay in the Pro Shop prior to playing your tournament round. (The sign-up books/sheets are located by the computer. There are separate books for the nine- and eighteen-hole rounds.)

4. You may choose which weekly tournaments you want to participate in—it is not mandatory to play in a tournament. However, if you sign up for a weekend tee time (between hours of approximately 9:30am-11:00am) that is reserved for the ladies league, you are expected to participate in league tournament for that week by paying the $5 tournament fee. These tee times are reserved for our league weekend play and are reserved for the benefit of the ladies league tournament play. Note: It is a course requirement that players who reserve these league weekend tee times are required to participate in tournament play by paying the $5 tourney fee that goes towards that week’s prizes.

5. Any time you play a USGA format round, enter your individual score into the Pro Shop computer to establish your handicap. If you don’t know how to input your scores into the computer, ask one of the Pro Shop staff for assistance. Note: playing a scramble format is not a USGA format round and you cannot post a score into the computer for that scramble round.

6. For nine-hole tournaments, you have the option of playing either the front- or the back-nine holes. For weekend play, tee times are taken for the front-nine holes only. No tee times are taken for the back-nine holes. The back nine is open to play based on availability. Always check the back-nine availability with Pro Shop prior to play.

7. Weekly scorecards that are turned in must include full names of all members playing in the tournament and must be signed and attested with date. Upon completion of play, please put scorecards in the envelope inside the respective sign-up book located by the computer.

8. In order to participate in the Club Championship, you must play a minimum of five (5) tournaments. Both 9- and 18- hole tournaments count towards this requirement.

9. In order to participate in the Pro’s Trophy tournament, you must play a minimum of five (5) tournaments. Both 9- and 18-hole tournaments count towards this requirement.

10. Our league is a handicap league. Please use the USGA Handicap System Chart (shown below) to determine your adjusted score (if applicable) when entering a 9- or 18-hole score into the computer for handicap.

If you don’t have an established handicap, this chart would not apply until your handicap is established.

For weekly tournament scorecards (turned in for tournament):
DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SCORES ON YOUR SCORECARDS. The handicap committee for tournaments will use actual scores (not adjusted scores) for awarding weekly prizes.

When entering a 9- or 18-hole score into the computer, use the USGA Handicap System Chart (shown below):
Before entering any scores into the computer, all scores should be adjusted according to USGA Handicap System Chart below.

NOTE: This chart will also be posted on the bulletin board and by the computer.

Examples (Section 10-5 of the USGA Handicap System manual):
• A player with a nine-hole course handicap of twelve (12), must adjust to a maximum number of eight (8) the score that can be posted in the computer for any hole regardless of par.
• A player with an eighteen-hole course handicap of thirty (30), must adjust to a maximum number of nine (9) the score that can be posted in the computer for any hole regardless of par.

11. If you choose to play 18 consecutive holes and are only playing in the 9-hole tournament, you must choose which nine you are playing for the tournament prior to beginning play. Before play, please state your decision in the sign-up book next to where you sign your name. Note: If you do not state what nine prior to play, default will be the front nine.

12. Our league has a maximum stroke policy for pace of play. The maximum number of strokes you may take per hole are 10. If you reach 10 prior to putting the ball into the cup and you are slowing up play, you must pick up your ball and mark a 10 for the hole. Note: The only exceptions are for the Club Championship and Pro’s Trophy tournaments. In each of these tournaments, you must play your ball all the way into the hole regardless of the stroke count.

13. No fivesomes allowed.

14. If after signing up for a league weekend tee time, a member is unable to fulfill the commitment to play, the Pro Shop MUST BE NOTIFIED by 6pm on Thursday. If you do not notify the Pro Shop by 6pm Thursday, you will be charged a no-show fee of $5 (money goes to the league). Those who become habitual offenders (on third offense), will be assessed the cost of the greens fee (money goes to the course). Member will be able to participate in future tournaments only upon payment of any assessed penalty(s).

15. No duplicate winners allowed for the weekly 9- and 18-hole tournaments. You may choose to participate in both the 9- and 18-hole weekly tournament, but cannot collect prizes from both.

16. Weekly tournament scores must be posted, either in person on the pro shop computer or via the internet at ghin.com, no later than noon on the Tuesday following the respective weekly tournament. If a member fails to post her weekly tourney score before the deadline, she will be disqualified from that week’s competition.

Rolling Meadows Ladies Golf Association

2007 Tournament Format Explanations

Scramble:  Everyone tees off each tee.  All players then proceed to the best drive.  From the best drive, everyone hits again and proceeds to the next best lie so forth and so on until the ball is in the cup.  The gross score of the group is put on the score card.

**please note: scramble scores are not to be entered into the computer.

Individual Gross/Net:  Best gross scores and best net scores are awarded.   Gross scores are your scores just as they are…..if you get an 8 on hole number one, then an 8 is used for your gross scoring.  Net scores are your gross scores minus your handicap.

Handicaps make the playing field fair for all ability levels of golfers.

**the Callaway scoring system will be used for gross/net tourneys for players who do not yet have established handicaps.

2 Woman Best Ball Gross:  Each lady plays their own ball from tee to green.  Mark both scores for each hole on the card so that each lady may enter their individual total scores into the computer for their handicap, but for this tournament the best gross score will be used for awarding prizes.

Blind Partner-Gross:    The handicap committee will randomly place two scores together for awarding prizes.

**Gross & Net Tourney uses your handicap

Best Five Holes: (for 9-hole tourneys)  Your 5 best gross scores are used for scoring.

Best 14 Holes: (for 18 hole tourneys)  Your 14 best gross scores are used for scoring.

Pick Your Partner Gross/Net:   Pick your partner and mark both scores for each hole.  The best gross scores and the best net scores will be used for awarding prizes.

Points Tourney:   Points are awarded gross and net for eagles, birdies, par and bogie.

Odd Holes Plus Total Putts:  Mark down scores for each hole so you can enter your score into the computer.  Odd hole gross scores will be used for scoring then total putts from all holes will be added.  Please mark each hole on card as such:  total score from tee to cup over total putts,  i.e.   hole #1 =    8 / 3

**In 9-hole tourney, if playing back 9, hole number 14 is included in total score to equal par on front odd holes.

T&S Minus Half Handicap:   Make down your score for every hole.  Holes that start with a T or an S are used in conjunction with the handicaps for scoring.

**In 9-hole tourney, if playing front 9, hole number 8 is included in total score to equal par on back T&S holes.

Even Holes Plus Total Putts:   Mark down scores for each hole so you can enter your score into the computer.  Even hole gross scores will be used for scoring then total putts from all holes will be added.   Please mark each hole on card as such:  total score from tee to cup over total putts,  i.e.   hole #4 =    8 / 3

**In 9-hole tourney, if playing front 9, hole number 1 is included in total score to equal par on back even holes.
